RasGas wins Emirates Energy award
RasGas Company Limited, the global supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), recently received the Emirates Energy Award 2013 at an event organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
RasGas won the award for adopting environmentally friendly and cost efficient technologies in its headquarters building. Entries for the Public Sector Undertakings category included institutions and projects from across the Middle East and North Africa.
“The award is a source of great pride, as it confirms RasGas’ position as a regional pacesetter for the adoption of sustainable design practices implemented through practical and cost effective green building technologies,” commented Ali al-Marri, Facilities Management manager at RasGas.
In April this year, RasGas was awarded the first prize in Kahramaa’s Tarsheed programme and competition, which recognises buildings in Qatar that have chosen and implemented technologies to conserve the environment and resources.
RasGas has previously achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification for its headquarters building from the US Green Building Council, making it the first building in Qatar to be awarded this certification in the commercial interiors category.
