LNG Industry,

Researchers from Glenn Research Center (GRC) will be on hand at CWC’s World LNG & Gas Series: Americas Summit to discuss the current design and concept of operations for a one year science exploration mission of the hydrocarbon rich seas of Saturn’s moon, Titan.

The cryogenic Titan seas are similar in composition to LNG, predominately liquid ethane surfaces are 92 - 94K at a pressure of 1.5 bar. Therefore, the submarine represents a unique design and development opportunity for the LNG community.

GRC will be showcasing the Phase 1 and current Phase 2 design, along with video and 3D printed models of the submarine.

For more information, take a look at the two videos below. The first is an excerpt of NASA 360’s talk from NASA’s Innovative Advanced Concepts Symposium in January 2015.
