LNG Canada seeks prime contractor

LNG Canada has announced that it is undertaking a process to identify a Construction Contractor to manage all of the design and construction work to build its proposed LNG facility to be located near Kitimat, British Columbia (B.C.), Canada.
In a statement, LNG Canada said: “LNG Canada does not discuss specifics of commercial agreements related to the LNG Canada project, and for reasons of confidentiality, does not release the names of the companies that will be bidding on the project at this stage.
“However, it is common for projects of the size of LNG Canada to hire a prime contractor responsible for the Front End Engineering Design (FEED), planning of construction execution, and managing the various subcontractors and employees that will be required for site construction and building of the facility.”
LNG Canada said that a delay in the final investment decision (FID) for the project would offer the company the opportunity “to return to market and rebid the construction contract in an effort to ensure the project remains cost competitive and affordable.”
Shell, KOGAS, Mitsubishi Corp. and PetroChina are working together to design, build and operate the proposed LNG Canada project.
