AFRY has been selected as the international technical advisor (ITA) for the 1.5 GW Quynh Lap LNG thermal power plant project in Tan Mai Ward, Nghe An Province, Vietnam.
The Quynh Lap LNG thermal power plant project is included in Vietnam's Power Development Plan VIII, which sets out the country's power sector development through 2030 with a vision to 2050. With an installed capacity of 1.5 GW, the project will support Vietnam's efforts to expand and diversify its power generation capacity, helping to meet growing electricity demand while strengthening energy security and supporting continued economic and industrial development.
AFRY's scope includes FEED for the onshore LNG receiving terminal and associated marine infrastructure, as well as environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) services for the entire plant. The assignment covers key elements including jetty design, onshore LNG terminal facilities, associated infrastructure, and onshore and offshore surveys.
A distinctive aspect of the assignment is the combination of LNG terminal engineering, marine infrastructure, environmental and social assessment, and site survey activities within a single technical advisory role. This integrated approach enables marine, terminal, environmental and site-specific requirements to be considered together from the early stages of project development.
“AFRY brings extensive experience in LNG-to-power developments and a strong track record in delivering technical advisory and engineering services for complex energy infrastructure. Its integrated approach covering LNG terminal engineering, environmental and social assessment, together with its regional presence and understanding of local conditions, made AFRY a well-suited partner for this project,” said Le Hai Long, CEO, Quynh Lap LNG Power JSC.
The planned development will comprise an onshore LNG receiving terminal supplying natural gas to a 1.5 GW power plant, forming an integrated LNG-to-power development.
“We are proud to support this project and contribute to the development of an important energy infrastructure project in Vietnam. Bringing together our LNG, marine, environmental and engineering capabilities enables an integrated approach from the early stages of development, supporting the successful delivery of the LNG receiving terminal and associated marine infrastructure,” added Rishi Agrawal, Global Director, LNG & LNG-to-Power Solutions at AFRY.
