FERC submits environmental assessment for Cameron LNG expansion

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released its Environmental Assessment Report for the proposed expansion of the Cameron LNG export terminal.

Cameron LNG plans to construct two liquefaction trains (Trains 4 and 5) at its existing LNG liquefaction facility in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes, Louisiana, US. The two new LNG trains would have a maximum LNG production capacity of 4.985 million tpy each. Cameron LNG also plans to construct a new 160 000 m³ full containment LNG storage tank (Tank 5), as well as a low pressure flare, two boil-off gas (BOG) compressor units, a condensate storage tank, a diesel storage tank, two liquid nitrogen storage tanks and miscellaneous piping.

FERC concludes that the approval of the expansion project would not constitute a major federal action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment.

However, FERC states that a Commission order approving the project should contain a number of recommended mitigation measures as conditions for authorisation.
