VINCI awarded Yamal LNG storage tanks construction contract
Subsidiaries of VINCI, Entrepose Contracting and VINCI Construction Grands Projets, have been awarded a contract with JSC Yamal LNG to perform the engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning of four cryogenic full-containment liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks with a capacity of 160 000 m3 each. Each storage tank is composed of a 9% nickel stainless steel interior container and a pre-stressed concrete external container.
These tanks will form part of a 16.5 million tpa natural gas liquefaction project known as Yamal LNG, owned by Novatek (60%), Total (20%) and, as of yesterday, CNPC (20%). The tanks will store the liquefied resources of the South Tambey Gas Condensate Field situated in the Yamal Peninsula in Russian.
In order to meet the project schedule requirements to make the first two tanks available in 2016, the detailed engineering, supply of the first equipment, camps, temporary facilities and piling works in the permafrost were started in June 2013 under a Letter of Award arrangement.
Entrepose Contracting and VINCI Construction Grands Projets have built more than 30 LNG storage tanks in 11 different countries.
