Total and partners launch development of GLNG project
Total, Santos, Petronas and KOGAS have announced the sanction of the Gladstone LNG project in Queensland, Australia, which comprises US$ 16 billion of investment in infrastructure. The plant is expected to deliver first LNG in 2015 and will have a capacity of 7.2 million tpa when complete. Binding LNG offtake agreements have been signed with Petronas and KOGAS to take 7 million tpy of LNG.
Total has a 27.5% interest, KOGAS has 15%, Petronas has 27.5% and Santos as operator has a 30% interest.
The plant will be fed by coal seam gas extracted from the Fairview, Arcadia, Roma and Scotia fields located in the Surat and Bowen Basin in Queensland.
Construction work is expected to commence immediately which will create 1500 jobs in the first half of 2011, 500 jobs will be created over the course of the project.
