CNOOC set to build LNG receiving terminal

LNG Industry,

China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) is planning to build a new LNG import terminal in the Fujan province, southeast China, a company official told Reuters.

The terminal, which will serve China’s rising demand for gas, is expected to be come online in 2017, will cost US$ 1.1 billion and will have a receiving capacity of 3 million tpa. The terminal will include three storage units with a 160 000 m3 capacity and LNG tankers with 260 000 m3 capacities.

An official from the company said: “The company has finished the preliminary work and is now waiting for the final project to start construction”, although it is unclear from where the LNG will be sourced.

Last November, CNOOC announced that its first floating LNG (FLNG) project in Tianjin was set to get underway.
