ALE completes work on LNG project

In August 2011, ALE was contracted by Bechtel Inc. for the transportation, load-out and load-in operations in Indonesia and Australia. ALE has recently announced that its work – which contributed to the construction of the Australia Pacific LNG project – has been completed.

The contract included carrying out the site transportations and load-outs of 69 modules at the SMOE yard in Batam, Indonesia, and at the LNG facility on Curtis Island in Gladstone, Australia.

The delivery took a total of 29 sea voyages to the Australia Pacific LNG facility site to complete. All 69 modules were successfully received, loaded-in and placed in their final operational location by ALE’s Australian branch. The modules ranged in weight from 100 t to 3363 t.

Mike Ward, Contracts Manager for ALE, said: “Our priority for this project was to optimise the most time efficient and effective transportation configuration.”

Ward focused on the load-out operation of module 110RD in particular: “Despite the challenging load-out conditions, our in-house operations and engineering teams were able to provide a wealth of experience which meant the load-out was executed in a timely and safe manner, marking a very important milestone for Bechtel and the owner, Australia Pacific LNG.”
