LNG Industry,
The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued its Environmental Assessment for the Elba Liquefaction Project proposed by Elba Liquefaction Company LLC, Southern LNG Company LLC and Elba Express Company LLC.
The companies are seeking authorisation to add natural gas liquefaction and exporting capabilities to Southern LNG’s existing Elba Island LNG terminal, in addition to abandoning the company’s existing LNG truck loading facilities at the LNG terminal in Chatham County, Georgia, US.
Southern LNG hopes to export approximately 2.5 million tpy of LNG via the existing LNG terminal, located on the Savannah River.
FERC concluded that, with appropriate mitigating measures, approval of the proposed project would not constitute a major federal action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment.
Cooperating agencies in the preparation of the Environmental Assessment included the US Department of Energy – Office of Fossil Energy (DOE-FE), the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and the US Coast Guard (USCG).
