Venture Global LNG, LLC has announced a global offer of 5 million tpa of tolling capacity and/or LNG supply from its facility currently under development in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, USA.
The 109 acre site is located close to the gulf of Mexico, directly on the Calcasieu Ship Channel south of Lake Charles, which is maintained year-round by the US government. The area benefits from a number of interstate and intrastate natural gas pipelines within a few miles.
The site can be expanded beyond the initial 5 million tpa capacity, with over 2000 ft of channel frontage, full road and water access, as well as adequate buffers.
A leading global investment bank and lender will provide financial advisory services.
In September 2013, Venture Global received permission from the US Department of Energy to export LNG by vessel to free trade agreement (FTA) countries, and its application for authorisation to export to non-FTA countries is currently pending.
Venture Global expects to commence construction in mid-2015, with commercial operations set for Q3 2018.
Robert Pender, Venture Global LNG Co-Managing Director, said: “Venture Global intend to be a long-term, low cost producer of LNG. Working with a global LNG technology vendor, we are configuring a highly efficient, low cost, modular mid-scale liquefaction facility. Compared to other technology we anticipate lower capital costs, increased operating efficiencies, and a shorter construction period.”
