According to Reuters, Total plans to expand the Mozambique LNG project with two additional trains.
Mike Sangster, head of Total Exploration and Production for Nigeria, recently announced at an oil conference in South Africa that studies were being considered for third and fourth trains at Mozambique LNG. “The resources are clearly there to develop,” said Sangster.
Total is in the process of acquiring Anadarko’s African assets. The company’s acquisition of Anadarko’s 26.5% stake in Mozambique LNG was completed in September, and it expects to complete the acquisition process of Anadarko’s assets in Ghana and Algeria, upon receiving regulatory approval, in early 2020.
During a recent call with industry analysts, Jean-Pierre Sbraire, Total’s Chief Financial Officer, described Mozambique LNG as the ‘jewel’ of the acquisition of Anadarko’s Africa assets.
