Pivotal LNG requests one-time authorisation

Pending FERC action on Pivotal LNG’s petition regarding LNG transportation on an expedited basis, Pivotal has requested a one-time authorisation from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to sell approximately 30,000 gallons of LNG to one of its customers.

This LNG will be loaded onto ISO containers for subsequent transportation via truck and LNG vessel to Puerto Rico. Pivotal’s customer intends to use the LNG for the purposes of start-up and equipment testing at a manufacturing plant in Puerto Rico, as it converts its fuel supply from diesel to natural gas.

Pivotal LNG stressed that in order to prevent any disruption to the manufacturing plant’s business and schedule, Pivotal will need to sell LNG for delivery by truck to a US port in ISO containers beginning no later than 11 August.

Background

Pivotal LNG submitted its petition for declaratory order and request for expedited consideration to the FERC on 11 April 2014. The company requested the issuance of an order by the Commission regarding certain LNG transactions no later than 30 June.

In its petition, Pivotal is proposing, among other things, to sell LNG to customers that will subsequently transport the LNG in interstate commerce, by waterborne vessel, for resale and consumption in a non-contiguous US state or territory (such as Hawaii or Puerto Rico) as vehicular fuel or feedstock.
