Ukraine to put out tender for LNG plant

Ukraine is going to officially put out a tender for a company to perform a feasibility study for an LNG importation terminal on its Black sea coastline.

The head of the state agency for national projects management (Ukrnatsproekt), Vladyslav Kaskiv, said that, “construction on the terminal and regasification of liquified gas will help diversify sources of energy carriers and strengthen the country's energy security while improving the investment climate in Ukraine.”

Currently five different locations are being considered for the importation terminal including an offshore site near Odessa, the tender will last 45 days and will be a two stage process.

The first terminal could be built in under two years, and a second terminal could be added on because Mr Kaskiv explained, “Building two such terminals will enable Ukraine to receive up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas of liquified gas.”
