Statoil’s Snøhvit plant to reach full capacity by the end of January

LNG Industry,

Statoil has stated that production at it Snøhvit LNG plant, which shut down on 20 December, would be back to full capacity by the end of January.

“We have located and repaired the error. We expect Snøhvit to be up and running in the second half of January,” said Statoil spokesman Ola Anders Skauby. The problem originated in the plant’s cooling system when one of the 1600 cooling pipes leaked, allowing seawater to enter the system.

The process was very lengthy as 1600 pipes had to be individually examined, but maintenance crews have now started the extensive procedures to restart the plant again.
