QGC recognised for community service in Gladstone

QGC, developer of the Queensland Curtis LNG Project (QCLNG), has been rewarded for its commitment to grass-roots community organisations in Gladstone.

QGC investment

The recognition for QGC's investment in the not-for-profit group Welcoming Intercultural Neighbours (WIN), came at the Premier's Cultural Diversity Awards.

Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs Glen Elmes presented QGC with the Corporate Partnership Award at the ceremony, which was part of Queensland Cultural Diversity Week.

Community integration

WIN helps new residents and their families to integrate into the community and provides cultural awareness training for businesses.

QGC has supported the group since 2011 to help build capacity and plan their future work.

VP Sustainability Brett Smith said QGC was committed to working with local community organisations: "WIN and their volunteers have supported many new arrivals in Gladstone and the group has diversified to meet the changing needs of the community.

"As a company with specialist staff from overseas we support WIN's approach to getting new residents on their feet and involved in the community quickly. This award is a pleasing reminder that our work to manage impacts of our project is benefiting local communities and businesses."
