At the end of 2015, Petronas issued a statement updating on the progress of the Petronas Floating LNG1 (PFLNG1) project.
According to the company, PFLNG1 is now 95% complete in its construction and is scheduled to come on stream in 2016.
The PFLNG1 vessel will be moored in Malaysia’s Kanowit gas field, 180 km offshore Sarawak. The FLNG project will produce 1.2 million tpy of LNG. Petronas expect the project to play a significant role in its efforts to unlock the gas reserves in Malaysia's remote and stranded fields currently deemed uneconomical to develop and evacuate.
