Lithuania welcomes US LNG exports
On the final day of his visit to the US, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevicius, met with US Vice President Joe Biden. Linkevicius also held a meeting with the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ed Royce.

The two parties discussed the threat posed by Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine to regional security, as well as challenges to energy security. Royce briefed the Lithuanian Foreign Minister that the House Energy and Commerce Committee had approved the law on liberalisation of LNG exports. The bill will now be voted on by the US House of Representatives.
Linkevicius explained that this decision to liberalise LNG exports was particularly important for Lithuania and other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, which sought to diversify their energy resources as much as possible, reducing dependence on one supplier of energy.
