DOE authorises additional LNG exports from Corpus Christi

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has issued an order authorising Corpus Christi Liquefaction LLC to export 514 billion ft³/yr of LNG from the new liquefaction trains 4 and 5 proposed for its Corpus Christi LNG terminal, which is under construction in San Patricio and Nueces Counties, Texas, US. The company is authorised to export LNG to countries that hold a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the US.

Corpus Christi Liquefaction and its affiliate, Cheniere Marketig, had already received authorisation from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and DOE to construct and develop three liquefaction trains (Trains 1, 2 and 3) at its liquefaction facility. Trains 4 and 5 form part of the expansion of this LNG terminal.

Under this order, Corpus Christi Liquefaction is now authorised to export 1281 billion ft³/yr of LNG from Trains 1 – 5 to FTA countries.

Corpus Christi Liquefaction’s request to export LNG from Trains 4 and 5 to non-FTA countries is still pending.
