An Applus+ subsidiary, Applus+ RTD, has recently won three contracts, worth a total of approximately AUS$22.5 million, for work on the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG Project’s onshore LNG facilities.
Applus+ RTD’s Rayscan Tankscan technology will be deployed in Australia for the first time, and for the second time worldwide, due to its use throughout these three-year contracts. The system provides a digital radiographic inspection system that can complete a full inspection of LNG storage tanks in a single scan. The system will produce a high-quality image of each weld.
Laing O’Rourke, Monadelphous Engineering Associates and UGL Kentz JV awarded the contracts. Applus+ RTD will provide inspection engineering, asset integrity management and advanced non-destructive testing services on two LNG tanks, one LPG tank, one butane tank and two OBSL and ISBL mechanicals.
The contract also stipulates that Applus+ RTD will provide maintenance for the anticipated 40 year lifecycle of the plant, with a team of around 60 personnel working on the project at peak times.
Herman Quakkelsteijn, Applus+ RTD’s Manager of Major Construction Projects – Asia Pacific, commented: “The contracts are a huge accomplishment for Applus+ RTD, especially given the scale of the Ichthys Project’s onshore LNG facilities. Our Darwin branch has played an integral role in our development in the region and these projects represent further growth for us here.”
