According to Reuters, Cheniere Energy Inc. is preparing to export LNG from its Sabine Pass facility to Asian customers for the first time.

A company official reportedly told Reuters that a rise in prices in the region has made such shipments profitable.

Specifically, the Cheniere official told Reuters: “Recently because of the pick-up in Asian LNG prices to above US$7 we can start to deliver to north Asia.

"At the current market level it is a good price."

Reuters claims that the cargoes will be delivered within the next one or two months, adding that China and South Korea are the most likely destinations.
