Connect LNG has announced that it has awarded the detail engineering contract for its first UTS™ loading system to Vard Engineering.
A statement from Connect LNG said that Vard Engineering has been chosen following careful consideration of several bidders, due to the company’s experience as a complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider of innovative vessels. The detail engineering project was initiated in May 2016, with completion scheduled for September this year.
Øystein Sæther, CEO at Vard Engineering, said: “We are grateful for the contract and to be part of making the UTS ready for commercial production. Working together with Connect LNG on this game-changing loading system fits well with our experience, strategy and engineering capabilities.”
Sea trials are scheduled for early 2017 at Herøya, Norway, together with Herøya Industrial Park, local authorities and key stakeholders in Norway's busiest port.
Morten Christophersen, CEO of Connect LNG, added: “We will approach yards and workshops shortly to prepare for production start in October.”
