G2 LNG files export request

G2 LNG, LLC has filed applications with the US Department of Energy (DOE), seeking authority to export LNG to both free trade agreement (FTA) countries and non-FTA countries.

The application requests authority to export 14 million tpy of LNG, over a 30-year period. G2 LNG intends to export the domestically produced LNG from its proposed liquefaction facility and export terminal located on the Calcasieu Ship Channel, in Cameron County, Louisiana.

The project facilities are anticipated to include two LNG trains, LNG storage tanks and vessel loading facilities. Each LNG train will be capable of producing up to 7 million tpy of LNG. The project facilities would permit natural gas to be received by pipeline at the G2 LNG terminal, liquefied, stored and loaded from the storage tank onto an LNG carrier berthed at the terminal.

G2 LNG has secured approximately 500 acres of land for the project along the Calcasieu Ship Channel. The company anticipates a 24-month construction schedule, beginning in mid-2017, with expected operation in 2019.
