Bear Head LNG Corp. Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (LNG Ltd), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LearnCorp International (LCI) for skills training.

LNG Ltd believes that the training will help to ensure that Bear Head LNG has the skilled workforce required for its proposed LNG facility on the Strait of Canso in Richmond County, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Greg Vesey, President of Bear Head LNG, said: “We are pleased to secure this agreement with LCI, globally recognised as a leader in training for the oil and gas as well as LNG sectors […] Over the next several years, Bear Head LNG will need hundreds of skilled workers to safely construct, operate, and maintain its facility. Together, Bear Head LNG and LCI will provide the certified training needed.”

Lucia MacIsaac, President of LCI, added: “The agreement with Bear Head LNG enables LCI to harness its expertise right here at home in Cape Breton. We look forward to working with Bear Head LNG on this exciting project […] LCI will provide internationally recognised instructors, curricula and technical support to assist Bear Head LNG through the development and delivery of courses and programs.”

Bear Head LNG has approval from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to export US-sourced natural gas to both countries that have Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and those that do not have Free Trade Agreements (Non-FTA) with the US.  Canada’s National Energy Board (NEB) has granted Bear Head LNG approval to export up to 12 million tpy of LNG.

Bear Head LNG also has all of the initial federal, provincial, and municipal regulatory approvals required to begin project construction.
