Sakhalin II project exceeded design capacity in 2015

Gazprom has announced that a working meeting was recently held between the Chairman of the its Management Committee, Alexey Miller, and several members of the Executive Committee of Shell to discuss a number of issues related to the strategic cooperation between the two companies.

Gazprom and Shell noted that LNG production at the Sakhalin II project had totalled 10.8 million t in 2015. This figure exceeded the design capacity of the LNG plant by 1.2 million t.

LNG plant expansion activities were also discussed during the meeting. At present, FEED work is ongoing on the third train of the LNG project. Gazprom noted that the experience gained during the implementation of the Sakhalin II project would be  taken into account in future joint projects between Gazprom and Shell.

Both companies also noted that construction of the Nord Stream 2 project was essential to help meet growing demand for Russian gas in Europe in the future. The parties also discussed issues concerning a swap of assets.
