FERC releases Port Arthur LNG project update

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released a project update for the Port Arthur Liquefaction and Port Arthur Pipeline projects.

In the update, FERC confirmed that it is currently conducting its environmental analysis of the projects based on the information received from Port Arthur LNG LLC (PALNG) and Port Arthur Pipeline LLC (PAPL) and the comments received from stakeholders.

PALNG and PAPL filed a set of the draft Resource Reports, for which FERC has provided comments in September 2015. PALNG and PAPL also recently filed revised versions of Resource Reportss 1 (Project Description) and 10 (Alternatives), and FERC confirmed that it will provide additional comments on these reports. PALNG and PAPL will incorporate these comments in their Resoruce Reports, which they will file with their applications.

Once formal applications have been filed, FERC will issue a Notice of Application and identify the CP Docket numbers for the projects. This notice will outline how interested parties can become intervenors or how persons can comment on the Projects.

FERC also confirmed its intention to issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review, once it has all of the information necessary to complete its analysis and write the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

PALNG and PAPL are planning to construct and operate interrelated LNG terminal and natural gas infrastructure projects in Texas and Louisiana, US. The Port Arthur Liquefaction Project would involve the construction of an LNG export terminal and a marine facility, and the Port Arthur Pipeline Project would involve the construction of about 35 miles of new 42 in. dia. pipeline to provide natural gas supply to the LNG facilities.
