LNG output in WA reaches record

The latest statistics from Western Australia’s Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) values the State’s mineral and petroleum industry at $99.5 billion.
While iron ore remained Western Australia’s highest value commodity, LNG was the most valuable petroleum product in 2014 - 2015 with $13.8 billion in sales.
The output of LNG increased to a record 20.4 million t. However, the overall sales value of LNG decreased 4% from the previous financial year. The DMP said that LNG production is forecast to grow in the period ahead with supply from new projects coming on stream including Gorgon and Wheatstone.
