Delfin LNG files deepwater port application

LNG Industry,

Delfin LNG LLC has submitted an application to the US Maritime Administration (MARAD) and the US Coast Guard (USCG) to construct, own and operate the Delfin LNG Project under the Deepwater Port Act (DWPA).

The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a facility to liquefy natural gas for export to free trade agreement (FTA) and non-FTA countries, under authorisations from the US Department of Energy (DOE).

Delfin is seeking authorisation to construct a deepwater port capable of exporting up to 443.3 billion ft3/yr of natural gas, or approximately 9.2 million tpy of LNG.

Comments

Frederick Jones, founder of Delfin, commented: “This is a very exciting step for Delfin and our partners in the project. We believe that floating liquefaction technology is faster to market, more flexible, and more environmentally friendly than land based liquefaction terminals. As the first floating liquefaction project in North America, Port Delfin will be a significant development in the world's evolving natural gas markets and an historic milestone for the US oil and gas industry.”
