API on Cameron LNG approval

LNG Industry,

The American Petroleum Institute (API) said that it welcomed the decision by the US Department of Energy (DOE) to approve exports of LNG from Cameron Parish, Louisiana and Martin County, Florida and urged the administration to expedite approvals for other projects.

“As the world’s top natural gas producer, America is in a strong position to create jobs, grow our economy, and bolster our influence overseas,” said API Upstream Group Director Erik Milito. “Cameron Parish and Martin County are now the second and third projects to receive final DOE approval. These projects open the door to billions in local investment, thousands of new jobs, and a stronger trade balance for the US.

“But dozens of other permits still face lengthy delays. We urge the administration to accelerate this process and work with leaders in Congress who have shown they are ready to strengthen America’s position as an energy superpower.”

US Senator Lisa Murkowski also applauded the DOE's decision for granting final approval to Cameron LNG. She also commended the DOE for granting LNG export approval to Carib Energy in Florida.
