Gazprom and Mitsui ink LNG bunkering MoU

Alexey Miller, the Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, has held a working meeting with Masami Iijima, Representative Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mitsui & Co. Ltd.
The two parties met at the Eastern Economic Forum 2016 in Vladivostok, Russia. They discussed the ongoing and future cooperation of LNG production at the Sakhalin II project, including the increasing output at the terminal following the construction of a third LNG production train.
During the meeting, Mr Miller and Mr Iijima signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in feasibility and marketing studies regarding the bunkering of marine vessels with LNG in Russia’s Far East and the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr Miller said: “Gazprom and Mitsui have successfully cooperated on the Sakhalin II project. Now we have an excellent opportunity to partner in a new business area – small scale LNG. Joint efforts in the bunkering industry will help our companies diversify our businesses and strengthen our positions in the dynamic Asian market.”
