Santos GLNG LNG train almost complete

Santos GLNG has reached another milestone, with the final three modules for the LNG train arriving and being moved to site at Curtis Island, Gladstone.

The cryogenic modules weigh a total of 2777 tonnes and will form part of the LNG train’s liquefaction system.

Santos VP – Downstream GLNG, Rod Duke, explained that the business had reached another significant step as the modules are the last of the major components required to deliver Santos GLNG’s first liquefaction processing train (Train 1).

Duke commented: “Train 1 is made up of 82 modules and it has taken close to two years to construct and transport these components to our LNG plant on Curtis Island.

“These final modules are currently being set in place on Train 1, using self-propelled modular transporters, before being connected to our LNG plant.”

The largest module in Train 1 is a chiller module with components measuring 35 m x 48 m, and weighing 2500 tonnes. It was recently moved into its final position at the Gladstone site.

Duke concluded: “The arrival of Train 1’s final modules and other recent construction milestones across the business demonstrates Santos GLNG’s ability to deliver world-class projects and operations.

“We are leading the way in building a new and economically significant industry for Queensland, and will deliver billions of dollars in royalty payments to the people of this state.

“Equally importantly, the construction and delivery of the modules has been completed safely.”
