Daewoo wins FSRU contract from Excelerate Energy
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. has won a US$ 280 million deal to build a floating storage and regasification vessel.
Under the deal with US based Excelerate Energy, the Korean shipbuilder will deliver the vessel by the first quarter of 2014, the company said. The vessel will have a processing capacity of 22.5 million m3/d of gas.
This deal adds fuel to speculation that Excelerate has won a third FSRU contract with Petrobras in Brazil. Petrobras is offering a 15-year time-charter deal on the new FSRU, which will be capable of sending out 20 million m3/d of gas. Allegedly, Excelerate undercut Golar LNG in a final round of bidding to win the contract.
