Pakistan LNG terminal commissioned

On 28 March 2015, officials from Engro Corp., Excelerate Energy and the government of Pakistan were present for the inauguration of Pakistan's first LNG import terminal in Port Qasim.

The LNG terminal was brought into service just 11 months after the start of construction, as part of the government’s fast-track solution to help alleviate Pakistan’s shortage of energy.

Utilising Excelerate's floating storage and regasification vessel (FSRU), the Exquisite, the facility has the capacity to deliver up to 690 million ft³/d of natural gas directly to Sui Southern Gas Company's natural gas pipeline system.

Exquisite loaded its first LNG cargo in Ras Laffan, Qatar, on 24 March 2015.

After arriving in Port Qasim on 27 March, the terminal completed commissioning activities and regasification acceptance test in less than three days, allowing the Exquisite to enter commercial service by the end of March.  

Rob Bryngelson, President and CEO of Excelerate, said: "Our goal is to provide safe and reliable performance for our customers, while working to commission projects quickly to begin serving their energy needs as soon as possible […] As the FSRU industry leader, our experience and expertise allow us to measure our commissioning timelines in days, not months."
