Icebreaking LNG carriers feature GTT technology
GTT has received an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for five icebreaking LNG carriers for Yamal Trade.
These five ARC 7 LNG carriers are expected to be delivered between 2017 and 2019 and will be built using GTT’s NO96-GW technology, which allows an optimised boil-off rate of LNG cargo.
GTT recorded ten similar orders for icebreaking LNG carriers in 2014.
Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, commented: "The harsh Arctic conditions make transporting natural gas a huge challenge. GTT is very proud that membrane containment solutions were chosen for these new generation vessels".
