Wärtsilä wins major new order

Wärtsilä has announced that it has signed a major contract, worth approximately €120 million, with a customer based in Europe that has international operations.
The order in includes Wärtsilä 50 platform gensets and auxiliary equipment.
The Wärtsilä 50 engine platform is able to operate on dual fuel, gas and liquid fuel versions. The Wärtsilä 50DF, launched in early 2000, represented a breakthrough in the marine LNG carrier market, replacing steam turbines as the preferred power source. Approximately 700 Wärtsilä 50 engines have been sold to the marine sector and 300 for energy sector applications.
Wärtsilä described the latest order as an endorsement of its Smart Power Generation.
