Mitsui developing medium size LNG carrier
Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) has been developing a new type of medium size multi-gas carrier for the transport of LNG and other gases, such as ethane and ethylene (LEG).
Over the next ten years, LNG carriers (LNGC) may be classified into large-scale LNGC and medium-scale LNGC. Meanwhile, LEG carriers (LEGC), which have usually been small, are expected to increase to larger LEGCs, which are comparable with medium-scale LNG carriers in terms of capacity.
In anticipation of these new market developments, MES has developed ‘neo82GC’, a prototype of a medium size multi-gas carrier.
Moss Maritime will support MES in the collaboration of further technical reviews of the multi-gas carrier. MES continues to focus on expanding the lineup and accumulating a backlog of orders for the ‘neo’ series.
