Sabine Pass LNG granted export capacity increase
The FERC has issued an order approving Sabine Pass LNG’s application to increase the authorized maximum peak day liquefied natural gas (LNG) production for Stages 1 and 2 of its export terminal in Louisiana. The order has increased daily production capacity from 2.2 billion ft3/d to 2.76 billion ft3/d.
Maximum LNG production
Sabine Pass explained: “the proposed increase in the production capacity represents the maximum or peak LNG production and export capability of the trains under optimal operating conditions, such as cooler ambient temperatures that increase turbine power and implementation of enhanced operations and maintenance processes that promote production efficiencies.”
The proposal requires no additional construction or modification of previously authorized facilities, and the liquefaction project can achieve its maximum LNG production level while complying with applicable air emission rules.
