Indonesian LNG sales rise

Indonesia’s oil and gas regulator SKKMigas has said that the country’s LNG sales for the year will be 4% higher than previously expected. The amount of LNG cargoes Indonesia originally expected to produce rose from 285 – 314, resulting from an increase in output and reduced domestic demand. However, this figure remains below that of last year, which saw 318 LNG cargos exported.

SKKMigas deputy chairman for planning and development Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja said that 29 out of the 314 LNG cargoes would be withheld for domestic use.

Last year Indonesia produced 332 LNG cargoes at the Arun, Badak and Tangguh export terminals, which have a collective production capacity of 43.9 million tpa of LNG, making it the world’s third largest exporter of LNG.

Indonesia is said to consume within the region of 40 billion m³ of gas, with an annual demand growth of 10%.
