LNG Industry,
Cryostar has announced that it has successfully tested its 100th four-stage boil off gas compressor (BOGC) at its headquarters in Hésingue, France.
Neil Wilson, Commercial Manager of Cryostar's LNG Transport and Terminals Business Unit, said: "This is a special day for Cryostar. A lot of hard work has gone into the delivery of all [of] these 100 four-stage compressors. Over 30 units are already operating on board LNG carriers under commercial voyage conditions."
The 4-stage BOGC allows a complete versatility in the BOG treatment on board an LNG carrier. The four-stage compressor delivers the required pressure to the dual-fuel engines independent of the BOG inlet temperature that can range anywhere between -140°C to 40°C. The BOGC makes use of water cooling where necessary and as a consequence, this solution no longer depends on spray precooling which previously resulted in unnecessary additional BOG and loss of cargo. Very low turndown capability and very short starting time round off its features.
