Freeport LNG requests review of fourth train
Freeport LNG Development L.P has filed a request with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the initiation of the pre-filing environmental review process for the construction of a fourth liquefaction train.
This fourth train at the Freeport LNG project, currently under construction on Quintana Island, Texas, will have a production capacity of approximately 5.1 million tpy of LNG.
Project schedule
Freeport LNG anticipates filing an application seeking authorisation no later than December 2015, and will request that the FERC issue an order authorising the siting, construction and operation of the Train 4 by no later than September 2016.
The train will be a propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant LNG train, identical to the three already authorised by the FERC. It will be designed to liquefy approximately 720 million ft3/d of natural gas. The project will require a number of proposed equipment and site modifications, as well as modifications or expansions of existing facilities.
