WCC LNG enters EA process

WCC LNG Project Ltd has entered into the environmental assessment (EA) process for the proposed WCC LNG project.

The company plans to construct and operate and LNG export facility and associated marine terminal, located on the eastern shore of Tuck Inlet, on the Tsimshian Peninsula near Prince Rupert, British Columbia. At full capacity, the facility will have a storage capacity of approximately 1 600 000 m³ and will produce up to 30 million tpy of LNG.

The proposed project may have a potential significant adverse environmental, economic, social, heritage or health effect, taking into account practical means of preventing or reducing to an acceptable level, any potential adverse effects of the proposed project.

The project assessment manager has ordered that the proposed project requires an EA certificate and is not allowed to proceed with the project without the assessment.

WCC LNG Project Ltd has already submitted a project description to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, which must be accepted before determining whether a federal EA is required.
