Pieridae Energy Ltd has announced it has signed a special needs collective agreement with the Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association (CLRA) to assist in the construction of the Goldboro LNG facility.

The facility is located in Goldboro Industrial Park in Goldboro, Nova Scotia, Canada, and will be capable of producing up to 10 million tpy of LNG. It will also be capable of handling LNG carriers up to 250 000 m3. The facility has been granted Environment Assessment Approval, its National Energy Board LNG export permit and its US Department of Energy (DOE) LNG free trade agreement and non-free trade agreement permits. It also has its US DOE Statement on Energy in Transit between Canada and the US.

Per the requirements of the Construction Project Labour Relations Act, this latest agreement was reached on 10 October 2016, and ratified and signed on 3 May 2017 by the CLRA and 85% of the building trades expected to be involved in the project construction. The agreement must go to the Labour Board for final approval.

In the near future, both the CLRA and Pieridae will ask that the Labour Board declare the agreement to be a project agreement, and declare the project agreement in effect for the Goldboro LNG facility project.

Pieridae claims that the agreement provides it with a higher degree of cost certainty for the construction phase. The company also claims that the agreement decreases the overall risk in planning the facility’s final construction.
