Kakinada LNG terminal receives environmental clearance

Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corp. Ltd has announced that it has received environmental clearance from the Government of India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for its LNG terminal at Kakinada, India.

The floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) based LNG terminal has a proposed design capacity of 3.5 million tpy, with appropriately operational flexibility up to a maximum of 5.25 million tpy. The LNG terminal will have a maximum storage capacity of 217 000 m³.

The proposed LNG terminal project consists of marine facilities for LNG import, berthing/mooring of the FSRU, storage and regasification of LNG within KDWP harbour, a high pressure subsea pipeline to transport regasified LNG to the coast, and an onshore receiving facility/landfall station for gas metering skid, control room and supply to gas grid.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has granted Environmental and coastal regulation zone (CRZ) Clearance for the proposed LNG project.
