Fluxys carriers unloaded at Zeebrugge LNG terminal

LNG Industry,

Fluxys said that in the first nine months of 2013, 28 carriers were unloaded at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, compared with 35 in the same period in 2012. Six of these were Q Flex-type carriers, which are some of the largest LNG carriers in the world.

Last year's trend with regard to loading LNG carriers continued in 2013, with the loading services at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal being widely used due to the high LNG prices in Asia. In the first nine months of 2013, 15 carriers were loaded, compared with 18 in the same period in 2012.

Investments

Subsidiary Fluxys LNG is building a second jetty for loading and unloading LNG carriers at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. The jetty will be commissioned in 2015.

The LNG terminal also saw its open rack vaporizer (ORV) commissioned: the installation uses heat from seawater to regasify LNG into natural gas.

At the former peak shaving facility in the Zeebrugge inner port, the liquid-nitrogen storage tank has been recommissioned. As a result, Zeebrugge now also has the possibility to adjust the composition of natural gas in order to cover the increasing variability in the composition of natural gas arriving in Zeebrugge from various sources.

LNG truck loading services

From 10 October to 7 November, Fluxys LNG organised a subscription window in the context of its offer of LNG truck loading services. There is 24/7 service availability and the possibility to make reservations through an online booking system. Fluxys LNG introduced this earlier than planned, on 1 November 2013.
