North West Shelf LNG extends supply deal with Kyushu

LNG Industry,

North West Shelf LNG sellers and Kyushu Electric Power Company have agreed a six year extension on an existing supply deal. The extension will see the North West Shelf project supply an additional 5 million tonnes of LNG to Kyushu Electric until March 2023.

Kyushu Electric Power Company Inc. is Japan’s fourth largest power utility and has been a major customer of the North West Shelf Project since 1989.

North West Shelf Australia LNG President Brian Mumme welcomed the contract extension between Kyushu Electric and each North West Shelf LNG seller.

“We believe this continues to confirm ongoing market interest in the safe, secure and reliable supplies of LNG from the North West Shelf Project,” Mr Mumme said.

The six equal participants in the North West Shelf Project are: BHP Billiton Petroleum (North West Shelf) Pty Ltd, BP Developments Australia Pty Ltd, Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd, Shell Development (Australia) Pty Ltd and Woodside Energy Ltd (Operator).
