Toyo Engineering Corp. has been awarded a LNG regasification plant project by Petronet LNG Ltd, India.

The regasification plant will be constructed at Dahej, located in the State of Gujarat on the west coast of India. It will expand LNG receiving capacity from 10 million tpy to 15 million tpy.

Toyo-India will lead the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on a turnkey basis. The LNG regasification plant is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of 2017.

Back in 2000, construction of the Dahej Terminal – India’s first LNG receiving terminal with an original capacity of  5 million tpy - was awarded to a consortium consisting of current IHI Corp., Toyo, Itochu Corp. and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. In 2006, a consortium of IHI and Toyo received an order to expand the LNG plant’s receiving capacity.

LNG regasification terminal growth in India

To meet India’s growing natural gas demand for electricity and fertiliser, over ten additional LNG import terminals are now planned to be built in the country. In a statement released on its website, Toyo said that it will actively develop its business activities in India, striving to receive orders related to these LNG receiving terminal projects.
