Spartacus will be the first such vessel to be fuelled by LNG and – with a total installed power of 44.180 kW – will be the world’s most powerful CSD. The vessel’s power will enable it to cut harder soils at speeds that have not previously been possible.
The scope of work to be provided by Bakker Sliedrecht includes the following:

- HV main switchboards.
- 690 V switchboards.
- 440 V switchboards.
- HV electrical drive systems.
- ABB ACS 880 low voltage multidrive systems.
- Transformers.
- Propulsion motors.
- Bow thrusters.
- Jet pump motor.
- Inboard dredge pumps.
- Cutter motors.
- Submersible motor.
- Winch motors.
The vessel, which is being built at Royal IHC yard in the Netherlands on behalf of Dredging International (DEME), is scheduled for delivery to DEME in 2019.
