C&I Leasing and Svitzer to collaborate on LNG tugs

C&I Leasing has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Svitzer, a unit of Maersk Group, to collaborate towards obtaining a contract with Nigeria LNG Limited for terminal support tugs and pilot vessels.

Under the terms of the MOU, Svitzer will provide assistance to setting up a simulator-based training center in C&I Leasing’s Port Harcourt office, as well as provide access to proprietary vessel management and operational software to enhance skills of its staff and improve reliability and availability.

Svitzer is the world’s largest towage and salvage company, with a fleet of over 500 vessels and operations in over 40 countries including Nigeria where it provides support for 20 LNG terminals with 76 tugs and 35 support vessels. With over 30,000 LNG tanker assistances since 1993, the company is responsible for over 60% of LNG tanker assists worldwide.

C&I Leasing

C&I Leasing is a leading Nigerian content player in the offshore marine vessel space operating a fleet of 14 vessels that include terminal tugs, patrol vessels, Fast support intervention vessels and a platform support vessel. The company is currently the only equipment leasing and logistics company listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Commenting on the MOU, C&I Leasing noted: “This represents a significant step in our efforts to compete more aggressively in supporting the Federal Government’s laudable local content programme.”
