TGE Marine has won a contract with MAN Diesel & Turbo (MDT) for the design and supply of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel package, which will allow the conversion of the first Qatari Q-max carrier to run on LNG or HFO. The modification of the low speed 2-stroke engine will use MDT’s electronically controlled gas injection system.
The ship conversion will take place at the Nakilat Keppel Offshore & Marine facilities in Qatar. Once converted and put into operation, the vessel will be propelled by a low speed diesel engine running on LNG.
TGE Marine, together with US partner ACD, has thoroughly investigated the design of the high pressure fuel gas supply system for the pumping and vaporizing system, including a complete dynamic simulation of the system considering all load scenarios. TGE Marine’s scope of delivery includes a modular pre-fabricated fuel gas skid, which is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2015.
