In late June 2016, the newly expanded Panama Canal was officially opened. Since then, over 60 vessels have transited the waterway, including two LNG vessels – the Shell-chartered Maran Gas Apollonia, and BP’s British Merchant. Now, the Panama Canal Authority has released a video celebrating the first month of the expansion.

The Panama Canal Authority has announced that, since the expanded waterway opened, over 60 vessels have transited it, including two LNG carriers.
BP’s British Merchant is the second LNG carrier to transit the expanded Panama Canal.
The Shell-chartered Maran Gas Apollonia is the first LNG carrier to transit the expanded Panama Canal.
The modification of the pricing structure for most Canal segments will provide reliability to the global shipping community.
